Layer Title:<\/SPAN><\/SPAN> Skagit Watershed Basins<\/SPAN><\/P> Abstract:<\/SPAN><\/SPAN> The Skagit watershed boundaries were created to support the implementation of the Skagit River Basin Instream Resources Protection Program Rule in Skagit County WA. (WAC 173-503) went into effect on April 14, 2001.<\/SPAN><\/P> The rule establishes how Ecology will manage water use in the basin. This includes:<\/SPAN><\/P> \u2022Establishing instream flows to protect stream flows in the Skagit and its tributaries for fish and other natural resources.<\/SPAN><\/P> \u2022Administering reservations of water for specific future out-of-stream uses.<\/SPAN><\/P> \u2022Granting interruptible water rights which cannot be used when flows in certain streams and the river are too low.<\/SPAN><\/P> \u2022Evaluating mitigation plans<\/SPAN><\/P> The Skagit rule does not apply to the Samish River Basin.
