Layer Title:<\/span><\/span> Skagit Watershed Basins<\/span><\/p> Abstract:<\/span><\/span> The Skagit watershed boundaries were created to support the implementation of the Skagit River Basin Instream Resources Protection Program Rule in Skagit County WA. (WAC 173-503) went into effect on April 14, 2001.<\/span><\/p> The rule establishes how Ecology will manage water use in the basin. This includes:<\/span><\/p> \u2022Establishing instream flows to protect stream flows in the Skagit and its tributaries for fish and other natural resources.<\/span><\/p> \u2022Administering reservations of water for specific future out-of-stream uses.<\/span><\/p> \u2022Granting interruptible water rights which cannot be used when flows in certain streams and the river are too low.<\/span><\/p> \u2022Evaluating mitigation plans<\/span><\/p> The Skagit rule does not apply to the Samish River Basin.
